About the role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Welding Engineer to support HERA’s Fabrication 4.0 / Welding Centre Division in the areas of technology training, technical consulting and certification at the HERA Headquarters in Auckland.

About you
The successful candidate will have a passion for quality and customer service in supporting association members with technical and certification support.
You will need to demonstrate a high level of professionalism and have a proven ability to quickly build strong positive business relationships with senior managers in private industry as well as with shop floor tradespeople.
The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator and motivator with a natural ability to teach and impart knowledge.

Key Responsibilities Include:-
• Deliver welding courses at the level of the International Welding Specialist (IWS) and International Welding Inspector (IWI-S);
• Maintain quality management systems covering HERA’s Training Center (HERA ATB);
• Maintain quality management systems covering HERA’s Examination Center (HERA ANB);
• Maintain accreditation of the training provider to meet the requirements of IIW and/or NZQA;
• Perform audits of welding and fabrication quality management systems to the requirements of ISO 3834 Part 2 and AS/NZS 5131 Construction Category CC3 and similar requirements;
• Perform technical advice and commercial consulting for member companies;
• Deliver against income-generation targets;
• Development, qualification and approval of welding procedures
• Support HERA’s research activities and manage research projects assigned;
• Develop technical guidelines and reports;

Skills and Experience Required.
• NZ Certificate in Engineering (Mechanical, NZQA Level 6) and/or BE in Metallurgy or Mechanical Engineering;
• International Welding Technologist (IWT) or equivalent qualification;
• International Welding Inspector (Comprehensive) IWI-C or equivalent qualification;
• Many years’ experience in the welding-fabrication industry;
• Experience in the application of QMS systems ISO 9001 and ISO 3834
• Sound report writing and analytical skills;
• Knowledge of best practice health and safety requirements;
• Ability to work independently to complete projects on time;
